V-RayMtl Converter 3 - the useful tool for automating such a time-consuming process as converting different types of materials (currently supported: Standard, Raytrace, Autodesk Material, Architectural (Revit), mrArch&Design, Corona Renderer, NVIDIA iray (unofficial), fr-Advanced, Brazil Advanced) to V-Ray materials, as well as reverse conversion V-Ray materials to Standard materials (which is very useful for game developers, modelers etc.)

View full list of currently supported materials and maps.

v3.4 update:

  • add support for 3ds Max 2019
  • added set "Glossy Fresnel" option to "On" for all V-Ray Materials in "Advanced Fix" section
  • added clear "Effect ID" override for all V-Ray Materials in "Advanced Fix" section
  • added set VRayFastSSS2 multiple scattering to "Raytraced" in "Advanced Fix" section
  • improved and speedup work "Fix Normal bitmap textures to VRayNormalMap" option in "Advanced Fix" section

Autodesk_Map to Bitmaptexture

1 vote

This script looks for Autodesk_Map textures in all scene materials and replaces them with standard bitmaps instead. Now that this script is finally general purpose, I'll be rolling a copy of it into the my Autodesk to Standard Material Converter script. The stand-alone version of the script will remain here as usual.

Autodesk_Map textures are generally found in Max files with data imported from Revit.

Sanitize Object Names

2 votes

Removes special characters from object names which can cause issues with network rendering. These often appear when bringing in a model from Revit.

- Inch and feet characters (" and ') are replaced with in and ft.
- Both 's and s' are replaced with s.
- Most other common special characters are currently replaced with underscores.

Mirza Link Manager

1 vote

Import and update models coming from Archicad, Revit, Sketchup and Rhino3d while keeping applied materials, modifiers, properties and transformations.
The meshes are linked through their material's names to the original.

This script is a replacement for these outdated ones: Archicad Importer, Revit Importer, Sketchup Importer.

Archicad Importer

35 votes

This script lets build a parallel workflow with Archicad, in the same way as Artlantis.
You can import and update the AC model in 3dsMax while keeping materials, UVWmaps, and VrayDisplacementMaps.

NB: This script is now replaced by the Mirza Link manager

Revit importer

11 votes

A tool to import and dynamically update model from Revit into 3dsmax.

Rhino Importer

Quick Collapse

34 votes

QuickCollapse is a maxscript Struct with a few functions to speed up collapsing large numbers of objects, it provides feedback in the listener window so you can see progress as it goes.

Run script will trigger ‘CollapseSelected’ on your current selection. there isn’t much Error Checking involved, so filter your selection for meshes, and remeber that it SHUTS UNDO OFF for the collapse so that we dont have RAM overruns on large objectsets, so save/hold first eh?

Instantly Auto Edges

27 votes

Performs auto edge on all selected Editable Meshes,
making imported Revit or AutoCAD meshes more readable.

AutoEdges

27 votes

Script looping through selected objects of your scene to hide unwanted edges in editable meshes (typically the middle triangles of surfaces).

This script was created to improve the visibility of models imported from Revit into 3ds Max via the FBX file format.
